My name is Merete Lien. I have been breeding basset hounds since
1986. Professionally, I am a designer and illustrator.
My first bassets were Ermintrude Luther (S Ch Karipat Spring
Drifter/Coffeebean) and a beautiful bitch from the Alandia's in
Sweden, N Ch S Ch Alandias Butternut (INT Ch Sanchu's Cottonwooed/Playing
Doll). This was in 1984.

Martha, as
we called her, was an excellent representative of the breed, with
a very good temper and an excellent mother for her three litter
of 10, 12 and 10 puppies. All these litters were raised in a town
flat at Kalvskinnet in Trondheim, hence my prefix. The name of this
part of the town stems from the myth that a man bought a piece of
land of the size of a calf's hide. He cut the hide in a long strip
and surrounded as much land as possible by it, thus getting this
part of Nidaros, as the town then was called.
N Ch Baseknap's Blue Indian.
